Fino al 27 novembre prossimo sarà possibile ammirare le opere provenienti dal Canada alla Mostra Internazionale di Architettura:
Canada Council for the Arts has announced its national theme for the
2016 Venice Biennale focusing on the countries complex ecologies of resources
titled as ''extraction''. The theme has been selected through a competition as
announced on 7th December by Canada Council for the Arts. The winning proposal
''extraction'' diggs into a cutting-edge, will be a multimedia investigation of
the country's resource extraction industry to represent Canada at the 15th
International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. Provocatively
called ''extraction'', the project will feature an installation, film and book
addressing the ecologies and territories of resource extraction.
Canada's national theme for the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale is
titled "Extraction",
the project profiles and "radically rethinks" Canada's rise as a
"global resource empire" by delving into the histories,
architectures, and political economies of the industry.
Considering
that the Great White North is home to 75% of Earth's prospecting and mining
companies, resource extraction runs deep in the country's roots. Catherine
Crowston of the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) was appointed as the project's
Official Commissioner while landscape urbanist Pierre Bélanger will lead the
design team as Project Curator and Director.
