Featuring an introduction from Young and commentary from Daniel Lanois, Young's legendary producer on the album -- and an artist who has also worked with Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan and U2 -- the film is a live performance of Young's eight new songs that were recorded at Lanois's studio in Silverlake, California.

YouTube, which recently broadcast a concert by the Montreal-band Arcade Fire, is increasingly becoming a major outlet for artists to promote their work. U2 and Alicia Keys have also previewed concerts on the website, although this collaboration is a first for Young. However, the filmmaker Jonathan Demme has previously made films from two Neil Young concerts. Their first concert film was Heart of Gold in 2006 and in 2009, they made the film Neil Young Trunk Show.
